Latest News: On June 13, 2022, the environmental impact assessment of the BDO-PBAT integration project (Phase I) of Wuhai Guangjin New Materials Co., Ltd. was announced for the first time.
The BDO-PBAT integration project (Phase I) of Wuhai Guangjin New Materials Co., Ltd. is located in the Low-Carbon Industrial Park of Wuhai High-tech Industrial Development Zone. The project is to be constructed in two phases. The first phase is to construct 300,000 tons/year of 1,4 butanediol (BDO) and supporting public works devices and auxiliary facilities. This time, the content of the first phase will be evaluated, and the second phase will be evaluated separately.
Project Review
On May 20, 2022, the BDO-PBAT integration project invested by Guangjin New Materials Co., Ltd., Wuhai City, Inner Mongolia, was officially filed with the Wuhai Development and Reform Commission.
The construction site of the project is located in the Low-Carbon Industrial Park, High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Hainan District, Wuhai City. The total investment of the project is 5,777 million yuan, including 3,466 million yuan of self-owned funds and 2,311 million yuan of bank loans. The planned construction start and end years are August 2022 month to August 2025.
According to reports, this project will be constructed in two phases. The first phase will build a 300,000-ton/year 1,4-butanediol (BDO) project, a 120,000-ton/year calcium carbide acetylene plant, and a 3×100,000-ton/year BDO plant.
(1,4-butanediol) plant, 3×240,000 tons/year formaldehyde (37%) plant, as well as utilities and auxiliary facilities for these plants.
Among them, the main unit of BDO adopts acetylenic aldehyde technology, using acetylene gas of acetylene unit, formaldehyde solution of formaldehyde unit and hydrogen produced by upstream unit as raw materials, through acetylenic reaction, hydrogenation reaction and rectification to produce 1,4-butane Diol (BDO) products.
The second phase of the project will build a 300,000-ton/year biodegradable plastic (PBAT) project. Build 5 sets of 60,000 tons/year PBAT devices, as well as the public works devices and auxiliary facilities supporting these devices.
The PBAT project adopts the transesterification method, and purchased purified terephthalic acid (PTA), adipic acid (AA) and BDO produced by upstream devices as raw materials. The main product is PBAT chips, and the by-product is 32,000 tons/year of tetrahydrofuran.
Wuhai Guangjin New Materials Co., Ltd.
According to the data, Wuhai Guangjin New Materials Co., Ltd. is jointly owned by Inner Mongolia Dongjing Bio-Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. and Inner Mongolia Guangju New Materials Co., Ltd.
On March 10, 2022, Inner Mongolia Guangju New Materials Co., Ltd. and Inner Mongolia Dongjing Bio-Environmental Technology Co., Ltd. formally signed a contract for the 300,000-ton/year BDO cooperation project of Wuhai Guangjin New Materials Company. (The specific production capacity of degradable plastic PBAT was not mentioned at the time)
In this cooperation project, the two sides have joined forces. Inner Mongolia Dongyuan, the parent company of Dongjing Bio, has a production capacity of 720,000 tons of calcium carbide, and Guangna Group, the parent company of Guangju New Materials, has a production capacity of 600,000 tons of methanol. Both calcium carbide and methanol are the main raw materials of BDO.
It is reported that Inner Mongolia Dongjing now has a production capacity of 100,000 tons of BDO, and its self-built BDO production capacity of 200,000 tons is expected to be put into operation in 2022. The newly built 300,000 tons is constructed in cooperation with Inner Mongolia Guangju New Materials.
The cumulative planned PBAT in Wuhai is close to 3 million tons
According to the data of ASIACHEM, including the planned production capacity of 300,000 tons of PBAT in Guangjin, the total planned production capacity of PBAT in Wuhai City, Inner Mongolia is close to 3 million tons per year.
