Sichuan Energy Investment has previously signed a contract with Xuanhan County in Dazhou, Sichuan for an industrial chain project with an annual output of 400,000 tons of BDO and degradable plastics. This project will build 400,000 tons of BDO and downstream products related projects. There is a new company with an annual output of 120,000 tons of biodegradable series polyester resin (PBAT) project under construction.

In September 2021, the Dazhou Investment Environment Promotion Conference and Cooperation Project Signing Ceremony was held in Chengdu. At the signing site, Xuanhan County signed 15 projects in one go, including the contract with Sichuan Energy Investment for “annual production of 400,000 tons of BDO and renewable energy.” Degradable Plastic Industry Chain Project”. It is reported that the total investment of the project is 13.759 billion yuan. It will be constructed in two phases. The first phase will build 100,000 tons of BDO and downstream products related projects, and the second phase will build 300,000 tons of BDO and downstream products related projects.

The BDO preparation process of the project is likely to use the acetylenic aldehyde method with natural gas as the raw material, because the project is located in Dazhou, which is a rich city of natural gas and lithium and potassium resources.

The project was first signed on September 17, at the 18th Western China International Expo Dazhou Investment Environment Promotion Conference and Cooperation Project Signing Ceremony. On the same day, Xuanhan County signed a total of 15 projects, involving natural gas, lithium potassium, manufacturing and other fields, with a total contract value of 20.68 billion yuan.
