HSBC Petrochemical has achieved a major breakthrough in extending the industrial chain and changing from fuel-based to fuel-chemical-based. In addition, PDH downstream supporting 150,000 tons/year PP plant has also been put into operation.

It is reported that the PDH unit is one of the main construction contents of the Zibo Haiyi Carbon Three Comprehensive Utilization Project. The carbon three project held a groundbreaking ceremony on November 8, 2019. It is one of the first batch of selected projects in Shandong Province’s new and old kinetic energy conversion major project library, with a total investment of nearly 1.5 billion yuan. It is located in Huantai Economic Development Zone, Zibo, covering an area of ​​66 acres, including Newly built PDH plant, PP plant, polypropylene finished product warehouse and supporting auxiliary engineering facilities, among which PDH adopts Oleflex process of UOP company, which has the advantages of safe and reliable process, low energy consumption, low environmental impact, small floor space and low investment; polypropylene The SPG polypropylene process is adopted, which is a self-developed continuous polypropylene process.

The important milestones of the project progress are as follows:

1. On August 23, 2019, the Environmental Protection Bureau of Zibo City planned to carry out the environmental protection of the carbon three comprehensive utilization project of Zibo Haiyi Fine Chemical Co., Ltd. The impact assessment documents will be published for approval comments.

2. On July 29, 2019, the Zibo Ecological Environment Bureau accepted and announced the “Environmental Impact Report of the Carbon Three Comprehensive Utilization Project of Zibo Haiyi Fine Chemical Co., Ltd.”

On July 27, Shandong Chenhai New Materials, a subsidiary of Zibo Haiyi Holdings, filed a project for the “160,000-ton/year acrylic acid and ester project”.

Cut into the “track” of biodegradable materials

In addition to the acrylic and ester projects, Shandong Chenhai has also deployed biodegradable projects. On May 16, 2022, the commencement of major projects in Huantai County in the second quarter of 2022 and the groundbreaking ceremony for the integration of green and degradable materials of Shandong Chenhai New Materials Co., Ltd. were held. It is understood that the total investment of the green degradable material integration project of Shandong Chenhai New Materials Co., Ltd. is 2.41 billion yuan. The project adopts a green and environmentally friendly production process. After it is completed and put into production, it can effectively promote the “reduction of oil and increase in chemical production” and realize transformation and upgrading.
